New generation Volvo XC60 takes design inspiration from its larger sibling the XC90 flagship SUV; possible launch in late 2017 or early 2018

The new generation Volvo XC60 is expected to make its global debut at the upcoming 2017 Geneva Motor Show in March next year. Upon its launch, the next generation model will replace the existing model which has been in business since 2008. The luxury compact SUV is also likely to launch in global market sometime in late 2017 or early 2018.

Upcoming 2018 Volvo XC60 takes design inspiration from its bigger sibling the new XC90 SUV.The car is underpinned by a shorter version of the SPA architecture. It sports Volvo’s signature Thor’s hammer LED headlights. Also, the front grille gets chrome garnishing and boasts design cues from the XC90.

At the side profile, the SUV features stylish appearance with the turn indicator integrated ORVMs, sporty alloy wheels and sleek roof rails. The rear fascia of upcoming XC60 gets vertically positioned LED taillights. So far, the new XC60 looks sharper and more stylish compared to the exiting model.

Interior of 2018 Volvo XC60 has received updates as well. It could come sporting similar design language like the bigger sibling XC90. This means new XC60 will arrive more premium looking and emphasizing on luxury and comfort for the occupants. It receives a new touchscreen infotainment system, new fully digital instrument cluster. Seat and upholstery materials are also expected to come with improved quality.

We can expect the SUV to feature Volvo Pilot Assist II semi autonomous driving technology. For power source it will get a range of petrol and diesel engines. The engines include a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit and D4 D% diesel motors as well. Transmission options could include a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox. The new Volvo XC60 is likely to be offered in both Front Wheel Drive (FWD) and All Wheel Drive (AWD) options.
